A dancer who doubles as a cellist. A Cleveland Symphony violinist who works to bring the Cleveland Ballet to life. A Music Director working behind the scenes to coordinate music for BalletMet, Columbus' premiere ballet company. Each of these artists works to bring music and dance together, unveiling the challenges and the triumphs of bringing two sets of people and two different art forms together.

Music and dance are intertwined on many levels, some might even say they can't exist without one another. Live musicians for dance classes often find themselves shoved in the corner of the room as if they were nothing more than a mere boombox. Music in Motion is a multimedia project that puts musicians in the spotlight and delves into the relationship between music and dance through the lense of various musicians, dancers, and choreographers.

Music in Motion was created by Hayley Ross, a journalist and dancer at Ohio University. Her inspiration came from watching the accompanists in dance classes at Ohio University and Factory Street Dance Studio. She became interested in learning more about the people behind the instruments. Hayley will graduate from Ohio University in April 2016 with degrees in dance and journalism. It is her hope to someday work in communications for a dance company or organization.
